In general, students can go abroad from the third semester of their bachelor's degree or the first semester of their master's degree. There is a maximum quota of 12 months per study cycle (i.e. a maximum of 12 months for a bachelor's degree, a further maximum of 12 months for a master's degree, and a further maximum of 12 months for a PhD).

First, students choose a host university.

A number of European and non-European partner universities that have agreements with the relevant department at RPTU are available as host universities. These agreements simplify the application process. However, it is also possible to spend time at a foreign university that is not a partner university of RPTU. In this case, the organisational effort on the part of the students may be higher.

Visiting stays at partner universities are usually financially supported – depending on the agreement, with ERASMUS+ funding or PROMOS funding. However, even without a partnership agreement, you can apply for PROMOS funding as a so-called freemover – or you can study abroad completely independently.
