Appointment of Jun.-Prof. Dr. Lina Stein
The department congratulates the new junior professor Dr. Lina Stein on her appointment as professor of Hydrology.
Dr. Stein studied for a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences with a focus on environmental hydrology and an M.Sc. in Hydrology at the University of Freiburg. She then completed her doctorate at the University of Bristol/UK on the topic of “Using hydrological process knowledge to assess flood generation and changes on a global scale.”
After completing her doctorate, she spent four years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Potsdam, focusing on hydrological extremes such as floods and droughts. She combines innovative approaches: on the one hand, she relies on automated text analysis to collect and systematically record knowledge published worldwide. On the other hand, she uses hydrological models for large-scale predictions and analyses of changes.
Prof. Dr. Stein is the missing piece of the puzzle in the SystemLink graduate college, where she will immediately supervise a doctoral student, among other things.
