Global Change Colloquium: Environmental stress at the (sub)cellular level in plants. Prof. Dr. Stefanie Müller-Schüssele (RPTU, Campus Kaiserslautern)

Abstract:

Rapidly changing environmental conditions challenge plants, as reactive oxygen species (ROS) are formed by overreduction of the mitochondrial and/or chloroplast electron transport chains. In contrast, specific ROS generation in the apoplast is necessary for the defense against pathogens. This talk will give an overview of effects at the (sub)cellular level during oxidative challenge, addressing important redox pathways for stress resilience.
