Prof. Dr. Hannes Kopf (* December 19, 1974 in Landau in der Pfalz) is married and has three children. After graduating from the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Landau, he began studying law at the University of Mannheim, graduating in 1999 with the First State Law Examination. In 2001, he was awarded a doctorate in law with the final grade summa cum laude from the University of Mannheim under Prof. Dr. Wolf-Rüdiger Schenke with a dissertation topic from the field of construction planning law. From 2001 to 2002, he completed postgraduate studies in administrative sciences at the University of Speyer with the degree of Magister der Verwaltungswissenschaften (Mag. rer. publ.). In 2002 he passed the Second State Examination in Law. After many years of teaching at the University of Koblenz-Landau (Department of Natural and Environmental Sciences), he was appointed honorary professor in 2017. He has also been an examiner in the First and Second State Law Examinations for a long time.  

From 2002 to 2003, he worked as a lawyer in the office of the law firm Lovells in Frankfurt am Main. He then joined the Rhineland-Palatinate state administration as a civil servant and worked as an advisor in the Ministries for the Environment, Forestry and Consumer Protection and for the Economy, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture. Furthermore, he worked as an officer at the Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektion (SGD) Süd in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, where he was head of the department "Human Resources Management, Training and Further Education, General Legal Affairs" from 2010 to 2014 and deputy head of the department "Central Tasks". From 2014 to May 2016, he served as State Secretary and Head of Office at the Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. He then moved again to the SGD Süd, where he served as vice president and head of the "Water Management, Waste Management and Soil Protection" department. Following his election as Vice President of the Audit Office of Rhineland-Palatinate, he held this office from January 2017 until mid-July 2018. He then acted as head of the "Municipal Development and Armed Forces" department in the Ministry of the Interior and Sports until the end of 2018.  Since 01.01.2019, he has held the position of President of the SGD Süd.
