Teaching

The Eusserthal Ecosystem Research Station has been offering the digital excursion "Explore waters - understand connections - protect biodiversity" (DigiEx) for the B.Sc. Environmental Sciences, B.Ed. Biology and Geography degree programmes since winter 2022/2023.

With the help of 360° images, the students can virtually explore the research station and the surroundings of the Eußerthal research facility. In the process, they are introduced to water ecology research topics (such as native fish fauna, marcozoobenthos and relevance of floodplain areas) through 11 modules. This is implemented through short documentaries and expert interviews, as well as through interactive learning applications.

The learning objective is primarily to raise awareness of the topic of "streams and their importance for nature and society". Furthermore, current water ecology research topics are taught.
