From May to September, tractors surrounded by clouds of spray are a familiar sight in vineyards and fields.
We consider chemical stress in the context of other environmental stressors. Our focus is on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems and their interactions. In addition to local and regional scales, we particularly focus on large scale levels (national, continental, global). We investigate the exposure of ecosystems to chemicals (especially pesticides) and their effects on biological systems of varying complexity. By integrating comprehensive environmental data, we derive assessment and management strategies.
