ANK projects
Our group leads carbon and greenhouse gas monitoring in several projects under Germany’s Action Plan for Nature-Based Solutions. These include KONAS, C-HubPaSed, and Vogelinsel Dollart along the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea coast.
The projects focus on restoring and managing coastal wetland and seagrass systems to reduce current baseline greenhouse gas emissions or to promote negative emissions.
The largest of these projects, KONAS, comprises several large-scale restoration sites spanning hundreds of hectares. These involve tidal reintroduction through the removal of summer dikes.
