BANU certification field botany 2023
BANU certifications in field botany bronze, silver and gold successfully completed: State Secretary Dr. Manz presents species knowledge certificates
At the beginning of July, BANU certifications took place in the departments of field botany at RPTU's Landes campus and at the Botanical Garden of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. BANU is the nationwide working group of state-supported educational institutions in nature and environmental protection, which has created uniform standards for the improvement of species knowledge with its project "Knowledge - Qualification - Certification for Biodiversity" . Following examinations in the bronze and silver categories, the gold standard was also offered for the first time this year in Landau in Rhineland-Palatinate, which requires an extraordinary knowledge of botany with 48 recognized species from a total of 600 species.
This is the third time that the Landau campus has taken part in the species knowledge initiative by conducting the examinations. As in previous years, the examinations were held at the university's branch, the Eußerthal Ecosystem Research Facility (EERES), in a relaxed examination atmosphere.
A total of 20 candidates took part in the certificate examinations in Landau, including 14 students of environmental sciences and conservation biology. A total of 14 candidates passed with distinction. Congratulations!
On Monday, July 31, State Secretary Dr. Erwin Manz (6th from left) presented the certificates to successful participants in this year's examinations at the Botanical Garden in Mainz.
